I bet that most people don't realize that almost every single day they take other individuals lives into their own hands. People do not do it through guns, violence, and drugs (well I suppose sometimes they do); but the main way is through the cars that they drive to get to work, school, and other activities. I bet most people don't fully comprehend all they can do with their vehicles in one single trip to the grocery store.
Automobile accidents are extremely common and claim the lives of innocent people on a daily basis. Often times when lives are claimed it is because of idiotic actions done by one or both parties involved with the crash. It is one stupid judgment, one bad call, one time of driving recklessly, one text message, one time driving drunk that takes other peoples lives into the hands of someone else. It is that one time that could change everything.
Every time I drive on the highway there is a flashing sign that I get to pass that is a great reminder that while I am driving my car that I am not just in charge of my own life, but that I am also holding others lives in my hands too. The sign states “744 traffic deaths this year – Please buckle up” and that number has rose in last two months. I remember when the sign read that there were 378 traffic deaths. It has grown and is continually growing.
It is just important for all of us to remember that when we are driving in our cars that there are other people with families and pets they need to get home to and that how we drive can affect the outcome of other individuals lives. Don't drive recklessly, don't text and drive, and don't drink and drive because it is not worth your life or someone else's.
